Alope
← Back to Portfolio View Project OnlineThe Alope system aims at guaranteeing an adequate oil supply to refineries, as a way to maintain adjusted their production schedule. The allocation must also consider the emptying of the platforms tanks located in the national territory. Alope’s main outcome consists of an oil delivery daily forecast for each of the system’s refineries, allowing them to outline their monthly production plan.
Furthermore, the Alope system provides the integration of corporate systems’ relevant information for the logistic planning, control and monitoring of Petrobras oil supplies. This integration comes in the form of scenarios, which are inventory forecasts, handling and allocation of oil. On top of this information, calculations and strategic estimates can be summarised and visualised in worksheets and charts.
Nowadays, the allocation is made once a month and has a projection outlook for the following two months. Every week, the Alope system provides consolidated information on oil inventories in the country. In order to collect the necessary information, different databases are queried, such as ship inventories, terminal tanks and refineries inventories, production forecast, among others. Since the system implements a client/server architecture, it allows the manipulation of scenarios by different users. The client module, available via Web, provides the following features: visualisation and edition of input data; generation of oil batches; allocation of batches in the refineries, batches sale; generation of charts and reports; daily monitoring of platforms relief requirements; optimisation of platforms relief process.
Role Information:
My role in this project was as a Java Software Engineer from July/2012 to July/2013 at Tecgraf’s Distributed Systems Engineering group.
The framework has a client/server architecture, is web-based and service-based, developed in Java, uses Swing interface, and Oracle’s database. ALOPE uses a distributed system implementation, and that design comes with some challenges such as concurrency, scalability, security, heterogeneity, and resilience to failure.
